~impenetrable- incapable of being understood
When sth becomes impenetrable you are not able to understand it.
Impenetrable is the antonym of the word 'penetrable'

~comprehend- to understand the nature of meaning of sth
In order to comprehend how things happend, very often you have to have basic knowledge in this particular topic, for instance in physics.
I very often have to try hard to comprehend difficult issues.

~frantically- do sth desperate or wild
I was shouting frantically but no one heard me.
I was searching my room frantically because I thought that I had lost my index book.

~evade- escape, avoid doing or fullfiling
I evaded the house imediatelly when the fire appeared.
While I was evading I realized that my cat stayed at home. :(

~exile- a person banished from his/her native land.
Sometimes people are forced into exile.
The reason why people are sometimes in exile is a matter of their beliefs

~sleep deprivation- s the condition of not having enough sleep
 I felt sleep-deprived after two nights of insomnia. 
Sleep deprivation can be either chronic or acute.

~goal- the result of achievement toward which effort is directed.
It's fantastic feeling when you achieve your goal.
Sometimes we have to sacrifice a lot of free time to achieve our goals but it's worth it.

~to give a shot- to make an attempt to do sth
I gave it a shot but at the end it turned out to be a failure.
Sometimes people are not courage enough to give sth a shot.

~adventurous- willing to engage in adventures
He is such an adventurous person that he couldn's stay in one place for a while!
Adventurous people are more likely to visit fantastic place than couch potatoes.

~to stick to sth- to limit yourself to doing or using one particular thing and do not change to anything else.
We are obliged to stick to laws.
If you do not stick to your plans you might spend a lot of time doing unnecessary things.

May El-Khalil: Making peace is a marathon

 
 
~fateful- fatal, deadly, disastrous
It was the most fateful time when in Lebanon was a civil war.
Fateful moments in my life make me think about the future.

~to be in coma- to be in a state of prolonged unconsciousness
After the accident May El-Khalii was in a coma for two years.
Do people that are in coma hear?

~remote- far apart
She visited remote villages to encourage people
People from remote part of country combine together on the marathon

~assassinate- to kill suddenly and secretively
The PM of Lebanon was assassinated.
There were a lot of assassinations.

~reconciliation- to proces of making consistent or compatible
People who live in unstable Lebanon want the reconciliation.
Reconciliation in Lebanon is the aim of May's endeavours.

Paul Piff: Does money make you mean?


~ PERNICIOUS- deadly, fatal; causing harm or ruin, injorious, hurtful

His pernicious attacks have caused a lot of damage.
My lifestyle is pernicious to my health- I have to change something.

~ATTUNED- sth is well-fitting 

Two attuned people might create a great relationship.
We are attuned pair- we have the same hobbies.

~EXACERBATE- to increase bitterness, or violence.

His behaviour exacerbates me so much- because of him I'm nervous all the time!
When I'm exacerbated I simply drink melissa ;-)

~BRIBE - money or any other valuable consideration given or promised with a view to corrupting the behavior of a person.

Despite the fat that taking bribes is illegal, a lot of people still take them.
Sometimes giving a bribe is the only method to get what you want. 

~DAUNT - to lessen the courage of...

Sometimes the amount of study materials daunt me! :( 
It's difficult to do something that daunts you.

Invest in social change

  • COHORT- a group or comany.
A group of students have created a cohort that organizes school ceremonies.
A cohort of citizens is trying to prepare aid for poor in my city.

  • COMPELLING- tending to compel, overpowering 
I would tell you a story which I have heard recently- It was really compelling.
A compelling personality is a person which you want to know better, because she/he is so interesting

  •  HURDLE- a difficult problem to be overcome
My friends are trying to overcome their hurdle which is connected with money.
If people have to overcome some hurdles in their life, they treat with respect what they have.

  • ENTREPRENEUR- a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risks
If you want to be perfect enterpreneur you have to be rigour, precise and hard-working.
People who are great enterpreneur have certain features which allow them to take risks and lead businesses.

  •  TACKLE  A PROBLEM- solve a problem.
I always want to help my friends to tackle their problems but sometimes I have no foggies idea what to do.
You should never give up- there is always a way to tackle your problem.
